《China Daily》Health requirements: CMA Testing rolls out new standards

The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong’s assurance body CMA Testing rolled out a new set of standards for mobile negative-pressure sanitizing chambers to provide a reference for manufacturers to meet international health requirements, according to a news conference.

This is the first project since CMA Testing advocated using intermediate testing to formulate standards for different sectors.

The new standards are also a response to the Hong Kong Department of Health’s 2020 statement on its official social media account that the “spraying of individuals with disinfectants (such as in a tunnel, cabinet or chamber) is not recommended under any circumstances.”

Dominic Lam Chun-hong, chief operations officer of CMA Testing, said that Hong Kong developers have spared no effort in developing new technologies and striving to achieve world-class standards, as previously there was no industry criteria to verify effectiveness and safety.

Robert Lok Pak-keung, vice-president of the CMA, said he expects the standards to serve as a guide for the future development of new products and technologies for local manufacturers as well as the innovation and technology industry to set a reference, which can balance market and safety needs.

Allen Shi Lop-tak, president of the CMA, said, the association hopes that locally-manufactured products and technologies can benefit from the new industry standards and safety requirements, and thus apply them in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the world.
